Crossroads

crossroadslogoCrossroads of Michigan is an ecumenical social service ministry providing the following assistance: Sunday soup kitchen, obtaining identification records, prescription medication, local and long distance transportation, food pantry and employment resources. We support Crossroads through our local benevolence budget and by collecting nonperishable foods for the food pantry. You can support their food bank by bringing nonperishable food items to church and leaving them in the food cupboard in our church foyer. Gleaners Food Bank

gleanerslogoGleaners collects and distributes food to 430 partner agencies (shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, and senior citizen centers) in Southeastern Michigan. We support Gleaners through our local benevolence budget and by volunteering at the warehouse. We go to Gleaners several Saturdays a year to volunteer. This is a good family activity. Habitat for Humanity

habitatdetroitlogoHabitat for Humanity Detroit is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry providing decent, safe, affordable housing to low income families in Detroit. We provide support through our local benevolence budget to Habitat for Humanity Grosse Pointe Partners and Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity. Volunteer opportunities are also available. World Medical Relief

wmrlogoWMR is a nonprofit charitable organization that collects donations or purchases medical supplies and equipment for distribution locally, nationally, and internationally. CROP Walk

cropwalklogoThe Church World Service CROP Hunger Walk is held annually in the spring by the Grosse Pointe area churches. Funds raised are used in the local community and for CWS Programs nationally and internationally. www.crophungerwalk.org

Samaritas

Samaritas is a social ministry of the ELCA in America serving others as an expression of the love of Christ regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or national origin.  Samaritas spans the state’s Lower Peninsula with more than 70 programs in 40 cities.

Thrivent Builds Worldwide

In 2005 Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity formed a partnership “to build or renovate homes which would result in improved communities and changed lives.” Since 2014 members of St. Paul have participated in these church-supported mission trips.  They have served in Canada, Romania, El Salvador, and Jordan.  If you would like to be involved in this ministry, please contact the office at 313.881.6670.

Blood Bank

The Grosse Pointe Community Blood Council sponsors 4 blood drives each year. They are held at local churches or the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. Our coordinator is Gerrie Spezia – 313.882.6745.
