Children
St.
Paul welcomes children as an important part of our congregation. We
encourage families to attend worship together. A children's message is
a regular part of our 9:00 AM worship service. There is also nursery care available during worship for families who choose to use it for young children under the age of four.
Children are also invited to participate in the music ministries of the congregation through various choirs. Educational
Ministries with children take place at 10:10 AM on Sunday mornings
between the worship services. Students age three through grade 5 meet
in Sandrock Hall for an opening time together before they go to their
classrooms. Our children's educational ministry through grade 5 uses
Akaloo from Augsburg Fortress. This multisensory learning material
focuses on becoming life-long disciples of Jesus through learning,
serving our neighbors, and developing faithful habits. Using an
assortment of hands-on learning activities and fun age appropriate
handbooks, students experience Jesus through scripture and through each
other.
Students in grades 6-8 meet on the second floor in their
classroom. Students will work with adult volunteers to learn
about the many spiritual gifts God gives us, to identify their own
individual gifts, and to respond to God’s call to use their gifts at
home, in the congregation, and in the community. The goal of Sunday
School for our middle school students is to apply what we learn in
Catechism classes in a real an concrete way.
High School
Students gather in the youth room at 10:10 a.m. for a discussion based
learning time. Topics will vary and are determined at the
beginning of the year by the students.
All students under 18 are
asked to have a registration form and permission form on file.
These can be downloaded and brought to the church, or you can ask
Michelle Ketepa for a hard copy.
Adults
Many educational opportunities are available for Adults.
New Member Classes
New
Disciples Classes are offered for those who want to join the ministry
of the congregation; these classes are also helpful to existing
disciples of the congregation who want to refresh their knowledge of
the faith. In new disciples classes we examine subjects like Lutheran
doctrine & practices, the major creeds, and the sacraments
Adult Forum
Another
opportunity for adult study is the Adult Forum. The Adult Forum is an
adult education time that meets on Sundays between services. A brochure
comes out twice a year—September through December, and January through
June—that details the topics for each Sunday meeting. Subjects
discussed during Adult Forum include a wide array of issues that
include, but not limited to, medical matters, social & political
issues, church growth matters, and in-depth study of the Bible.
The
adult forum covers a wide array of issues that include medical matters,
social and political issues, church growth, in-depth study of Biblical
subjects, and many others. A brochure is released twice each year with
a listing of upcoming topics. View Brochure. It is the aim of the Adult Forum to foster continuing opportunities for study in the congregation.
