The Church Council

The Church Council consists of the officers of the congregation, the pastors, all committee chairpersons and a youth representative. The youth representative position may be filled by two alternating youth members. The current total number of members is 18.  The Church Council meets once a month on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. They do not meet in the month of July.  The Church Council members are responsible for all aspects of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church’s life and activities.  It is responsible for stating the mission of the church and oversight in accomplishing the statement of purpose as presented in the Congregation Constitution. The Council is also responsible for all financial and property matters, appointment and supervision of all lay staff, oversight of the church’s worship life, continuing adherence to the Congregation Constitution and the creation of a comprehensive Annual Report to be presented to the Congregation at the Annual Meeting. The Executive Committee

The Executive Committee of the Congregation is made up of the officers of the congregation and the Senior Pastor. The officers of the congregation include the Congregation President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. The Administration Chairperson is also a part of the Executive Committee. The committee meetings are set as needed by the President or Senior Pastor. The Executive Committee reviews salary recommendations during the budget process prior to presentation to the Church Council and ultimately the Congregation for approval.     Treasurer Sub Committees

    Budget Committee - The Budget Committee is appointed by the Executive Committee with the approval of Council.  Revenues for the next year are estimated based on pledges received and prior year’s offerings.  All committees of the church submit their financial plans for the coming year to the budget committee.     Audit Committee - The Audit Committee attests to the reliability of financial statements, both internally and externally generated.  Auditors are appointed by officers of the congregation and approved by council.  The treasurer is not a member of the audit committee.

    Counters - The counters count and balance the church receipts on a weekly basis.  A complete allocation report identifies monies for specific and general funds.

    Evangelism Sub Committees

    New Disciples Sponsors and Receptions – This committee works with the pastors to welcome  and orientate new disciples to St. Paul.

    Coffee Hour – Kim Tripp heads this sub committee.  Our Coffee Hour hosts and hostess provide goodies after each of the service.  Please contact Kim at  313.886.9469 if you would like to help.
